Frequently Asked Questions: Information for New Patients.
First off, you’ll sit down with Dr. Brown in his office and talk to him about your pain, how it started, what makes it worse…those types of things. After that, you’ll go to the examination room where the doctor will perform orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic testing. At that point, Dr. Brown will have a good idea of whether your problem is one that chiropractic can help…or not and if necessary, he’ll take the required x-rays. This will all take about 30 minutes.
Once again, you’ll head for Dr. Brown’s office, but this time you’ll see your own x-rays on the view box. While you look at your x-rays, Dr. Brown will explain to you what he sees, and tell you what treatment he recommends. Normally, at this point the doctor will perform spinal manipulations, also known as adjustments, to begin fixing the problem at hand. Various therapies usually follow, including hot and cold treatments, low voltage muscle stimulation, ultrasound therapy, etc.
Dr. Brown offers a free consultation and examination. It gives him a better idea of what’s wrong before any charges are incurred. Before you receive x-rays or treatment or anything with a fee, Dr. Brown or his staff will let you know the cost and give you an idea of what your insurance will cover if applicable.
Usually yes, although sometimes no. You can find a list of insurances that DO cover chiropractic here, but it’s not all inclusive. Donna or Celeste will make a copy of your insurance card when you first come in, and make every effort to find out the coverage info for your insurance for you while you’re having your free consult and exam.
Yes. Just bring us your card and we’ll do the rest.
Dr. Brown will make whatever referrals he thinks are necessary if your problem is better addressed by another specialty, like an orthopedist, a neurologist, etc.
Again, this depends on your specific problem. Dr. Brown’s priority is to get you feeling better as quickly as possible. We try to stabilize and correct the actual problem causing the pain efficiently and then prescribe and demonstrate rehabilitative exercises specific for your condition. Our plan is to try to correct the problem so that no further treatment is necessary as soon as possible.
